7 Ways to Increase Sell-ability

by Tracy Hookstra | August 13, 2014

A recent MSN Real Estate article lists seven easy steps to increase your home’s sell-ability. Follow these tips to make sure your home stands out to prospective buyers!

  1. Maintain neutrality. Use subtle paint, wallpaper, and light fixtures to spruce up your interior.
  2. Less is more. Removing some furniture may make your home appear larger and more spacious.
  3. That new house smell. Avoid strong smells, keep pet areas clean, and be mindful of what you cook in the days prior to showings.
  4. Pay attention to the details. Do not make any large renovations prior to selling your home. Instead, make small changes such as updated hardware.
  5. Maximize your “curb appeal.” Keep your yard clean and maintained and the path to the front door clear and welcoming.
  6. Don’t get too personal. Put away personal belongings such as pictures, laundry, and shoes.
  7. Take care of repairs. Save potential time and money by taking care of small repairs before putting your house on the market.
