Your Home’s Summer Checklist

by Tracy Hookstra | July 10, 2015

It’s that time of year, again! Temperatures are rising, the kids are out of school, and home maintenance projects seem like an absolute chore thanks to the Texas heat. Though it may seem tempting to skip a few to-dos on your list, it’s best to take care of them now to ensure your home survives the summer months in the best condition possible. The Nest has put together a great reference list. Here are several we think are musts:

  • Check your home’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are in tiptop shape.
  • Inspect your AC unit(s), remove and clean the filters and clean all ceiling fans with a damp rag.
  • Save money and energy by drying your clothes outdoors.
  • Wash your windows to get them sparkling clean.
  • Plan a watering schedule to help your flowers and gardens survive the summer heat. Be wary of any water restrictions your city may have.
