Buying your first home can be a daunting task.  Mortgage rates, budgeting, finding the perfect neighborhood – there’s a lot to think about!  But don’t get too overwhelmed.  According to Summer Mandell, Consumer Columnist for TexasRealEstate.com, here are four dos and don’ts for first time homebuyers.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions.   If you aren’t sure about something, speak up!  After all, this process can be quite confusing so ask for clarity if need be.

Do your financial research.  Avoid potential headaches later by doing your homework beforehand.

Don’t settle, but don’t have unrealistic expectations.  It’s easy to see a home’s potential.  But watching HGTV every weekend does not make you an expert in home renovations. Be flexible and realistic with your list of “wants.”

Do work with a Realtor.  Expert knowledge and experience is key in finding the home that fits you.  The Jan Richey Team has a combined real estate experience of over 115 years. As seasoned professionals, they are ready to help.  Call them today!
