  1. Update with new throw pillows.  Add visual interest to your furniture with throw pillows in various shapes, sizes, and patterns, inviting family and guests to cozy up!
  2. Warm up the living room with plush throws.  Pull out your winter blankets and throws and add texture and warmth to your living room.  Make an even bigger statement with a bright throw that contrasts with your sofa.
  3. Layer area rugs.  Layering area rugs is an easy way to add warmth, color, and texture to your floors.  There are no set rules – just make sure the bottom rug pokes out below the top rug in order to get the layering effect.
  4. Prep the fireplace for cool weather.  Get your fireplace ready for the upcoming cool nights by hiring a professional to check for any gas-related safety hazards or, for a wood-burning fireplace, a good cleaning.
  5. Change out your summer shades.  Trade any light and airy window treatments for something with more insulation and coziness.  Go for bold patterns to add vibrancy to the room.
  6. Light up candles.  Add ambiance to nightfall with scented candles.  It will also help relieve stress and anxiety after a long day of work.
  7. Cozy up on the patio.  With a lack of heat and humidity, enjoying your outdoor spaces throughout fall and winter is easy.  Be sure to bring throws outside in case the weather gets a bit chilly.
  8. Swap out summer bedding.  Exchange your summer quilts for heavy down comforters and thermal blankets.  If you want to save money on your utility bill, cozy up under the covers and set your thermostat to 62 degrees or below while sleeping.
  9. Add seasonal warmth to the table.  Pack your everyday dishes in the cupboard and pull out seasonally themed pieces.  Add pumpkins, nuts, and fresh herbs for a fabulous dining room centerpiece.
