Three Reasons the Housing Market Should Thrive in 2014

Housing Market Increase

According to a recent interview by HousingWire with David Berson, chief economist at Nationwide, there are three reasons why the housing market should thrive this year.

  1. 2014 should be the strongest year for housing activity since before the Great Recession thanks to a decline in unemployment / growth in employment.
  2. Demographics should start to favor housing activity if the economy continues to improve, bringing new jobs and more households, raising the housing demand.
  3. Mortgage availability may improve as the rise in mortgage rates has already reduced mortgage origination volumes as activity declines. As a result, lenders will probably ease lending standards to increase activity.
