Plano’s Bond Election Results

Plano’s May 7th Bond election results are in and, according to the Plano Independent School District’s website, over 78% of voters voted in favor of the $481 million bond to fund initiatives recommended by the Plano ISD Facilities and Technology Task Force. The Task Force, which was comprised of citizens, business leaders, teachers and parents, reviewed the school district’s needs (both current and anticipated) and made recommendations to the School Board. “Collin County voters residing within the Plano ISD attendance zone were asked to consider a single proposition to provide $481 million toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate,” stated the Plano ISD website. Plano’s last bond election was in 2008 for $490 million. Currently, Plano ISD has the second-lowest property tax rate among Collin County school districts.
